We were engaged by Willow Creek Vineyard to create a large-format illustrated map of the estate’s vineyard blocks - designed as a storytelling tool for use at the cellar door. The map helps staff introduce visitors to the unique characteristics of the site, including the vineyard’s layout, elevation, water features, and the surrounding hotel and hospitality complex.
The client needed a visually engaging and accurate map that could serve both as a reference and a conversation piece. The illustration had to convey technical details: such as vineyard clones, topography, and land use, while maintaining a warm, handcrafted feel appropriate for a hospitality environment. It also needed to scale effectively for large-format print without losing clarity or character.
We created a hand-illustrated vineyard block map based on a combination of satellite imagery, site photography, and on-location visits. The map includes fine-grain detail such as vineyard rows, vegetation, buildings, water features, roads, and elevation contours. The illustration strikes a balance between accuracy and artistry, designed to support informative storytelling by cellar door staff. The final artwork was printed at a scale and professionally framed and mounted within the newly renovated cellar door space.
